Here are the details for both programs:

SNACK AND LUNCH

AM Snack: A morning snack is provided daily – before school by 8:00 am. At least two of the four major food groups are offered for the AM Snack.

Preschoolers and Kindergarten: A hot nutritious lunch is also provided. The four major food groups are offered.

PM Snack: Parents are asked to send the afternoon snack. Please be sure to send at least two of the four major food groups. In the morning, all PM snacks are checked for items which may require refrigeration. Therefore it is advisable to place your child’s snack bag into the snack tray, so that it can be properly checked. Your child’s snack bag can be found in the snack tray at the end of the day. Please label the snack bag and all containers.

LOCKERS AND MATS. A locker for your child’s personal belongings is provided along with a mat for the rest period and a face cloth for the washroom. Please clean out your child’s locker periodically and take home items that are not needed. Your child will require a blanket for his/her afternoon nap.

SHOES, CLOTHING, EXTRA ITEMS. It is advisable that your child be supplied with an extra set of clothes as important learning activities such as baking, outdoor play, arts, crafts, and water play can often leave your child dirty or wet. Accidents can also happen – an extra set of clothes can save the day. Please include in a bag: socks, underwear, pants, and a shirt. Please remember to label all items.

It is important that your child have a pair of indoor shoes to wear while attending our centre. Fire drills are held monthly (even in winter), and require that all children go out “as is”. As well, sock feet on a slippery floor can lead to accidents. Proper footwear is necessary for your child’s safety and comfort.

In the winter-time, appropriate outdoor clothes include: ski pants, boots, hat, mitts, scarf. For the summer, please include: hat, t-shirt, bathing suit, towel, and sunscreen.

ITEMS FOR INFANTS AND TODDLERS

Please provide the following for infants and toddlers:

- Diapers or pull-ups and Wipes

- Rash cream

- Teething gel (optional)

- Training cup or Bottles (if needed)

- Blanket for nap

- Bibs

- PM Snack

- Change of clothes

ARRIVAL/DEPARTURE. It is important that your child be brought right into our centre by an adult each morning as we are not responsible for your child until he/she arrives in our centre and is signed in. At the end of the day, your child will only be released to you or people you have authorized to pick up your child. A child will not be released to anyone who you have not authorized to pick up your child. If the person picking up your child is unfamiliar to the Child Care Workers, this person will be asked to produce a piece of personal identification. To avoid confusion for both your child and the staff, please inform the centre whenever your child is to be picked up by someone other than yourself.

FIELD TRIPS. We go on several community outings throughout the year. For each outing, it is important that we receive your permission. Our centre will make the details of the field trip available to you in paper format as well as on this website (see below) — prior to the fieldtrip date, and a permission sheet for the trip will also be provided.

SPECIAL OCCASIONS. Throughout the year, our children will have parties and celebrations: at Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Halloween, etc. At these times, we allow treats of chips, cakes, cookies, and candies to be brought from home. For birthdays, parents may bring a cake or cupcakes (please provide paper plates).

PARENT/STAFF COMMUNICATION.
Please use the Parents’ Bulletin Board at the centre and regularly check for updates.

One staff member is always available at both closing and opening hours for any information you may wish to pass on. If there is anything pertinent to your child, the staff will discuss this with you individually.

If you wish, you are more than welcome to arrange for an interview with the Director. Please let the staff know of any circumstances at home that may affect your child at the centre.

You are also welcome to use this website to talk to us, or email us.
